Skype interview with Declan stone from the stone twins

From researching the stone twins and collating 5 questions with the added film question for the basis of our project, we had the opportunity as a group to have a Skype conversation with one of the twins.
These are our questions:

1.What aspects of music influenced 'A'Dam'?
2.From writing the book 'logo 'R.I.P', what would you say makes a 'bad' logo?
3.Do you ever have conflicting opinions that change your work?
4.If you had stayed in Ireland, do you think your practice would have developed differently to how it was in Amsterdam?
5.As designers who avoid conventional uses of social media, what is your opinion on the platform in today's society?
6. what film would they would recommend an aspiring graphic designer?

These are Declan Stone's answers in note form:

1. world of edm, they focus on music from the 80’s - like Jackson 5 etc, different music is played in the lift- with the brand being more than just a logo and important in order to differentiate.

2.  a good logo- stylistic and durability, staying outside of the trends of sans serif and the use of Futura. Thinking about what the message is and how technology influences the logo- how we can still create a good design without technology. They like logos that have wit and narrative, that make your mind smile.

3. Yes- you gain opinions and feedback- with them telling each other brutally their opinion on each others ideas and work. They have trust and respect for each other, with financial and work. Being brothers is a good marketing and promotion as well.
4. no- Ireland is culturally behind as it doesn't have the same design respect that Amsterdam has. So many projects in Amsterdam, including building developments like the tower that wouldn't have happened in Ireland.

5. It’s a ‘love, hate thing’ has the prospect of reaching out and not needing the distribution, however it is very superficial. A lot of ‘look at me I'm fantastic’ with beauty and aesthetics. With it being instant its almost like a drug with the addicting nature. Need to understand what the message is, try and have something too say and communicate that message with the intended audience.

6. Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory - purity and imagination, with the use of typography and the celebration of differences in the film- a general happy film.
