Screenprinting

For the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory film poster, our chosen design was :

which then changed then to:

it was changed as the feedback was that the special willy Wonka type isn't needed for the minimalistic approach to the design, with also having it portrait would show the character more effectively.

In order to screen print the design, there had to be two screens, one for the middle square and one for the background with the cut out text. With the screen printing process, the first screen we exposed didn't work as the design just washed off, so we had to start the process off again. With the second attempt, the main design, because it is a large block of ink, didn't print out very well, with a water mark also on the print causing us to have to wash and dry the screen. On the third attempt, the printing of the text worked out well, however it turned out to be a challenge as we printed the larger area before the square, which was a darker colour, so when trying to align the square with the border it was a difficult task. Which ended up having the square overlapping the border, to which was aesthetically obvious. Also, the colours didn't turn out exactly how we wanted. The screen was then ripped when washing, so we had to expose the text screen again and we had help also to create a metallic gold, rather than a more brown shaded gold.

The final result:
