Self branding research

With the basis of the branding being pattern, the brand first look at was Patternity, which is an organisation that creates patterns of which have worked with a lot of brands, showing how they do pattern really well. As stated on their site 'united by their deep love of pattern and its ability to bring ideas, people and perspectives together, they wanted to share the positive power of pattern with the world' with their work with pattern hoping to 'inspire more curious, collaborative and connected ways of living.
The 2nd inspiration looked at is Jessica Hogarth, She is an illustrator and surface pattern designer based in Whitby, North Yorkshire, who has worked for the likes of Paperchase, Fenwick, Oliver Bonas and PaperSource. She is the main inspiration for the branding as her lifestyle incorporates attributes that are admired, such as travelling and blogging. Her travelling becomes an inspiration for her illustrations, of which are collated to create patterns. Products that her work is featured on are items such as cards, coasters, wrapping paper and prints.



Another designer looked at was Marina Oliveira Aka Cotton Flower Studio, who is a surface pattern designer and illustrator that is Brazilian based. She is inspired by everything in nature, with classing her style as organic. Her love for pattern started of with sketching and hand drawing elements of which later develops into a pattern. Her designs are used for products such as clothing and interior. 

Another artist researched in the industry was WendyKendall Designs. She is a freelance surface pattern designer based in the Midlands. She loves the use of bold colours against bright whites, with particularly enjoying designing for children. Her clients include the likes of Wilkinsons, Debenhams, Superdrug and Dashwood studios. Her work is mainly used to become fabric and clothing, with also the use of home textile and stationery. 

Another researched surface pattern designer was Camilla Carvalho Aka Oak Print Design, who is a surface pattern designer based in Canada. Her love of sketching, has pursued into a career where her illustrations are mostly inspired by nature, with using these sketches to come up with a new pattern collection. Her designs are primarily used for fabrics, with other uses such as stationery, apparel and home decor. Clients she has worked for are the likes of Printed Village, Quiltweaves and Chamomilla Baby.
